Planning for the 2014 National Curriculum

This guidance from Jamie Byrom (SHP Fellow) provides some useful starting points to help you plan for the 2014 National Curriculum. The resources include:

1. A two-page summary of National Curriculum for History at Key Stages 1, 2 and 3. This sets out the statutory content and preambles in a bullet-point format.

2. A summary of how the aims of the revised National Curriculum are reflected in the preambles of each Key Stage, and guidance on how ‘key concepts’ can be developed progressively across Key Stages 1, 2 and 3.

3. Some suggested enquiries for Key Stage 1 history.

4. Some ‘significant events’ that might be studied at Key Stage 1

5. Four models for Key Stage 2 outline plans that show how areas of study might be arranged across Key Stage 2 with some sort of coherence. Models A and B could be used as part of a two year rolling programme.
