Jane Richardson - North East Adviser
I am Head of Humanities and Citizenship Coordinator at Egglescliffe School, Stockton-on-Tees. I have worked in five different secondary schools, first teaching SHP in the early 80s in London. In 2002 I co-authored, with Ian Dawson, the SHP textbook ‘Dying for the Vote’ in the This is History! series. I am particularly interested in the history working class movements and regularly provide workshops at SHP conferences. My most recent claim to infamy has been playing the back end of the horse in one of Ian’s Saturday night conference sessions.

Donald Cumming - Yorkshire Adviser
I am Assistant Headteacher at Holmfirth High School in West Yorkshire; I have previously been AST in national challenge schools in Halifax and London and know the impact that the SHP approach can have across all subject areas not just our own. I have recently co-written the ‘Crime & Punishment for Edexcel’ specification, co-authored the ‘Crime & Punishment Through Time: Dynamic Learning’ with Ian Dawson and regularly deliver workshops at the SHP summer conferences. I am currently setting up a Northern History Network to build links within the History teaching community here in the north; drop me a line if you'd like to know more. My own involvement with SHP goes back to my time at secondary school in Essex in the 1980s where the teenage version of me studied SHP GCSE History – and I have never looked back!

Muriel Wilkins - South West Adviser
I am Assistant Principal and Learning Director for Humanities at Oasis Academy in Bristol. I started teaching SHP in 1987 and have never looked back!! I have always loved the variety of periods, topics and approaches, the blend between depth and overview and the focus on historical enquiry. SHP helps teachers to make full use of their creativity to tackling big questions about the past. I particularly enjoy building visual memories for my students through different learning activities. I regularly provide INSET for teachers and have written BBC materials for SHP’s History of Medicine.
