Free Holocaust learning DVD available to schools from IWM (Imperial War Museums)
For over ten years IWM has run an innovative and engaging Holocaust formal learning programme, supporting students from Year 9 in their understanding of the Holocaust and antisemitism.
A new free film resource called The Way We Lived is now available to schools. The DVD contains two films which explore the extraordinary diversity of pre-Second World War Jewish life and culture in Europe and how, over centuries, Jewish people became the target of suspicion, hostility and hatred.
Teachers’ notes and activity suggestions suitable for Year 9 students and above will help stimulate classroom discussions based on historical evidence and close analysis of the films.
To request a free copy of this DVD resource please contact:

The Way We Lived is traditionally used to support formal learning sessions during pre-booked visits to IWM London’s The Holocaust Exhibition. Over 20,000 students a year take part in these sessions. IWM London is temporarily closed until July 2013 as part of a major transformation project, see blogs.iwm.org.uk.
The Holocaust formal learning programme will reopen for the autumn term in September 2013. Sign up to our eNews secure.ecircle-ag.com/iwm/public/pref_centre.jsp to be the first to hear when our school bookings reopen.
