American West Films
This is the history of the American West told in seven eye-witness accounts, each focussing on a different journey. Students can experience the epic stories of pioneers, prospectors, ranchers and railroad-men – and of the Native Americans for whom the West was not won, but lost.
These seven films, made Andrew Chator, begin with a wonderful interview with Black Elk, a holy man of the Lakota Sioux, interviewed in the 1930s about the ‘old times’. Each of the films is a valuable learning resource for SHP’s depth study on the American West.
