What is History?
The two 'What is History?' books are designed to provide a coherent introduction and conclusion to your Key Stage 3 course. They can be used in conjunction with any KS3 material and publications.
The teachers' books provide guidance on objectives, teaching strategies and an extensive range of photocopiable resources.

Year 7 - What is History?

The Y7 book provides seven short activities which enable you to diagnose pupils' understanding of key concepts from KS2 or introduce these concepts. The content ranges widely and has been chosen so that it does not clash with standard KS3 topics.

Year 9 - What is History?

The Y9 book provides three different activities which look back over topics previously covered to create conclusions to the KS3 history course.
Content:
- Can history help us deal with terrorism? This section uses case studies including the Romans, Elizabeth I and N. Ireland in the 1970s to see if history can teach us lessons for the present.
- Punishments through time. A chronological survey which assesses the pupils' handling of sources and understanding of causation, change and continuity, and interpretations.
- What are your top 5 history topics? Pupils take a guided tour back through KS3 History to choose the topics they think were the most significant.
